It’s not often you meet someone who has such a profound impact on your personal and professional life. When I began working with Liz, I already knew of her reputation – she’d supported others in our leadership team – but I didn’t realise how personally transformative the experience would be.

To be honest, I came into the first session expecting something quite different – I thought it would be training. A checklist of ‘how to be a better leader’: dress this way, do that in meetings. But it couldn’t have been further from that. Liz didn’t deliver instructions – she held up a mirror. She gave me exercises that initially felt unrelated to leadership, but as we worked through them, I saw how they helped me unpick how I think, behave, and lead. That shift – from expecting answers to discovering tools – was huge.

One of my main objectives was to move from a hands-on, day-to-day focus into a more strategic mindset – vital for stepping into a Directorship. I had to stop being the “doer” and start leading. Liz helped me step back and look at the bigger picture: where I was heading, how I wanted to lead, and the kind of impact I wanted to have – not just on the business, but on myself and my team.

That clarity had a ripple effect. I became more mindful of how I interacted with others, especially my team. Using profiling tools like Insights Discovery, I gained a better understanding of how I work – and how others do too. As a technical person, I’m very data-driven, but Liz helped me see the value in the softer skills: listening, slowing down, being intentional. My meetings became more productive, my team more engaged, and I delegated with greater confidence.

What I value most is Liz’s ability to make sense of chaos. My thoughts can be overwhelming – jumping between ideas and responsibilities. Liz didn’t give me answers – she helped me find them. She broke things down into manageable pieces. Before long, what had felt like a mental whirlwind became a clear, structured path.
